抄録

We suggested the deposition process of NiTi intermetallic compounds on carbon steel substrates using a plasma transferred arc (PTA) surfacing process. In order to prevent the formation of iron-based intermetallic compounds and hardening of the NiTi coatings, nickel interlayer was used during the PTA surfacing process.<BR>Nickel interlaying leads to the prevention of cracks and hardening of the NiTi coatings. The microstructure of NiTi-deposited metals features Ni3Ti phase and the grain boundary showing the eutectic structure of NiTi and Ni3Ti. The wear resistance of the NiTi coatings made by using the nickel interlayer is superior to the resistance of Stellite #6 coatings.
