Abstract

This paper describes a new recycling system for used beverage can developed by Nippon Chuzo. This new system called “CANREC” is meltless method against conventional melting method. “CANREC” is unique in that, after shredding, drying and calcining, the aluminum chips are highly polished in a multi-stage rotary machine and then pressed into ingots or briquettes. This unique stage not only permits low energy and oxidation free ingot forming, but eliminates the residual impurities from the calcined aluminum chips.
