Abstract

The relation between the preheat temperature and the critical velocity of imploding. pure DD-target used for inertial confinement fusion is clarified by a numerical analysis. This simulation uses one-dimensional hydrodynamic-code “Mt-Fuji”. The result indicates that the imploding critical velocity sharply depends on the preheat temperature; for example, 1×108cm/s for 1000 K, 3×107cm/s for 10K; and the break-even can not be acheived if the preheat temperature is more than about 5000K. The scaling-formula is also derived for the maximum ion temperature and density.
