Overview of the International Test and Evaluation Program (ITEP) for Humanitarian Demining

Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the collaborative test and evaluation (T & E) of equipment that will be carried out in 2005 under the umbrella of the International Test and Evaluation Program for Humanitarian Demining (ITEP). The work plan of the Multi-Sensor and Mechanical Equipment Work Groups will be presented. ITEP members contributing to these activities are Belgium, Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States and European Commission. Other participants include the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) and organizations from mine-affected states and entities.<br>This year the range of equipment that will be tested includes; multi-sensor detectors, flails, vegetation cutters and multi-tool systems. Most T & E activities also cover trials in mine-affected countries, which are executed in cooperation with the Mine Action Centres (MACs) and/or locally operating Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
