抄録

In order to obtain a membrane with an excellent resistivity against solvents and high permeability barrier, a poly (vinylidene chloride-co-acrylonitrile) membrane was treated with hydrazine hydrate. As a result of the treating, the membrane was crosslinked by hydrazine accompanied with colouration. Colour changed from brown to violet gradually without losing transparency. Crosslinking of the copolymer is supposed to occur via the reaction of hydrazine with active chlorine atoms which are adjacent to conjugated double bonds formed by the elimination of hydrogen chloride. It has been clarified through the measurements of dynamic modulus and tan δ that the copolymer becomes more rigid by the crosslinking. During the initial stage of the treating, water vapor transmission rate decreases on account of a larger extent of crosslinking, whereas it increases thereafter due to the increasing solubility of water vapor into the modified membrane.
