抄録

Composite esters consisting of 2, 2′-thiodiethanol as the diol component were prepared. From the mixtures of thiodiethanol and butyl, hexyl, and 2-ethylhexyl alcohols and dibasic acid such as adipic acid, maleic acid, and phthalic acid, composite esters or heterogeneous composite esters were obtained. They were prepared by direct dehydration esterification from acids, and diols and monofunctional alcohols or ester-interchange reaction using esters and diols. Viscocities of the products and plasticizing efficiencies using poly (vinyl chloride) were examined. Composite esters or heterogeneous composite esters from adipic acid had good properties and were superior to dioctyl phthalate in plasticizing efficiency and non-volatility. Softening temperatures were very low and, with thiodiethanol as diol component, the plasticizer had excellent properties at low temperatures.
