説明

Epoxy resin/titania hybrids were prepared by a sol-gel process, and their properties and micro structure were investigated. A bisp henol A type epoxy resin (EP 1001) was mixed with a curing agent with alkoxysilyl groups, N - (2-aminoethyl) -3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (S320), and titanium n-butoxide (TnBU) in tetrahydrofuran. The mixture was extended onto a Petri dish, and after evaporation of solvent and heat treatment, transparent hybrid films were obtained. In the dynamic viscoelastic properties of EP 1001/S320 hybrid, a tan δ peak due to the glass transition (Tg) appeared at about 100°C. The peak of EP 1001/S320/TiO2, however, shifted to a lower temperature side, probably because methoxysilyl groups were blocked by titania converted from TnBU resulting in imperfect network structure. Tg of EP 1001/S320/ TiO2 hybrid was increased by heat treatment. Ultimate tensile strengths of the hybrids were also improved by heat treatment and increased with an increasing TiO2 content. In the small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) profile of EP 1001/S320, a sharp peak appeared at a scattering vector q=2.4nm-1 due to the interference between the silica cross-links formed by the reaction of terminated methoxysilyl groups. Intensity of SAXS profile of the EP 1001/S320/TiO2 hybrid was increased on loading of TiO2 having high electron density, and a small peak at 2.4 nm-1 was observed. Guinier plots (q<0.2nm-1) of EP 1001/S320/Ti02 hybrids gave a radius of the cluster of about 10 nm which may be attributed to the TiO2 cluster dispersed in the DGEBA matrix.
