Abstract
The possibility of design to the 2.0 nm scale based on a concept for the design of nanoscopic structures via film thickness control was demonstrated. We fabricated sandwich-type EL cells incorporating organic vertical superlattices by using a microtome. Charge carrier separation and confinement in vertical organic superlattices of 2 nm layer width were experimentally confirmed. The present technique can be applied to the fabrication of novel optoelectronic devices with designed nanostructures that are composed of various kinds of material.
