The fiexural Modulus of fiber-reinfbrced injection moldings has been investigated as a function of aspect ratio with the Halpin-Tsai equation.<BR>The flexural modulus of injectien moldings of glass short-fiber-filled polycarbonate and the average aspect ratio of glass fibers were measured. The experimental results did not correspond to the theoretical results of the Halpin-Tsai equation obtained on the assumption that the leng fibers were oriented toward one direction on a 2-dimensional plate. The modified Halpin-Tsai equation which takes into considcration the distribution of fiber lengths and orientations lessened the difference between the numerical results and the experimental ones. The Simulation by means of this modified equation and comparison with the experimental results which indicate the relation between the fiexural modulus and the average aspect ratio gave a good correspondence between the experimental results and the theoretical ouesonsuchinjection moldings as glass short-fiber-reinforced polypropylane.<BR>Consequently, we can now predict, without injecting into a mold, the combination of materials, the weight fraction of the filler, and other factors which will give the needed fiexural modulus.
