Abstract
Chemical and physical alternations of rubber surface properties were produced by applications of plasma treatment to the uncured rubber surfaces. The details were revealed on the bases of the surface analysis by scanning probe microscope and the evaluation of crosslinking density of rubber compounds. Plasma treatment brings about the surface irregularity and the addition of functional groups on the rubber surface. The changes of rubber surfaces have an effect on the cured rubber properties. The plasma treatment induces the transformations of functional groups on the rubber surface by XPS analysis and this chemical change has an influence on the cured rubber properties.<br>
