Poly(2,2-diallylmalononitrile) (poly-1), which has a rigid cyclic structure in the polymer backbone and dicyanomethylene as polar groups, was prepared by the cyclopolymerization of 2,2-diallylmalononitrile (1) in the presence of AIBN, and the ionic conductivities and thermal properties of their polymer electrolytes with LiTFSI were investigated. The polymer electrolyte was obtained as pale yellow brittle films by solvent-casting from acetonitrile. They showed the typical decouple-type behavior, that is, glass transition temperatures of the polymer electrolytes decreased with increasing lithium salt concentration, but ionic conductivities increased with an increase of the salt concentration in contrast to the couple-type polymer electrolytes based on PEO and its derivatives. The polymer electrolytes start to decompose at around 400°C, indicating that they have a suitable thermal stability.
