Description

We report a case of dentigerous cyst associated with an impacted supernumerary tooth with similarcharacteristics to dens in dente. A 14-year-old girl was referred for further evaluation of a radiolucent lesionin the left side of the mandible. Radiographic examination showed an immature impacted third molar and amonolocular radiolucent lesion including a malformed tooth-like radiopacity.<br>Surgical enucleation was performed under general anesthesia. Histopathological examination showed anodontogenic cyst and two distinct types of hard tissue. The cyst showed features of a dentigerous cyst. One ofthe hard tissues was an immature tooth, corresponding to the third molar. The other hard tissue consisted ofdentin, immature enamel, and enamel organ. Interestingly, this malformed tooth-like hard tissue had an outerlayer of dentin lined by an inner layer of enamel, similar to the characteristics of dens in dente.
