Abstract

We report a rare case of trigeminal neuralgia caused by an ectopic impacted tooth under the mandibular notch.<BR>A 22-year-old man visited our hospital because of lancinating pain.Panoramic radiography revealed an impacted tooth under the right mandibular notch. The right lower first premolar was missing and a radiolucent area was observed around it. Symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia caused by an ectopic impacted tooth was diagnosed. The impacted tooth and granulation tissue were removed under general anesthesia. The lancinating pain disappeared after the extraction.
