Description
When components of a power plant, such as pumps or valves, are checked or repaired, those components should be isolated. This isolation follows the isolation list which describes the title of the work, the period of the work and the components to be operated. Although the isolation list is prepared by technical experts considering many diagrams about the plant and the plant status, making an isolation list is a rather time consuming and complicated task. A knowledge-based system called Isolation Support System has been developed to support an engineer while preparing an isolation list.<BR>This system takes the components to be repaired or checked as a user's input. The framebased representation of the components is used to determine isolation boundary considering drainage of the specified components. The production rules for the isolation procedures are processed to determine the isolation operations. The switching interlocks are specified by simulating the plant response to the isolation operation. Technical experts tested Isolation Support System using reactor water cleanup system model, and the validity of isolation lists prepared by this system was confirmed.
