Abstract
This paper describes the field experiment on the introduction effect of residential cogeneration systems for typical detached houses in cold regions. First, the basic performance evaluation of a polymer electrolyte fuel cell was presented. Alternating current electrical efficiency and heat recovery efficiency at a rated output operation were quite high; 31.6% and 44.9%, respectively. Second, various electric power and hot water demands in the middle season, summer, winter were applied for full scale field experiments. The primary energy reduction rate of the system to a conventional system reached 17.3%, 5.6% and 24.8%, respectively. The predicted value of the annual primary energy reduction rate based on the numerical analyses was 16%.
