Abstract

In order to make condition inside bedclothes comfortable for an elderly, who has a chronic disease, new type of bed board heating system by using electric hot water heater is proposed in this paper. The proposed system is very silent, since the hot water heated by a small heater is circulated by a thermosyphon mechanism through the bed board without a hot water pump. For establishment of designing methodology of bedclothes warmer, several experimentations have been carried out to determine basic characteristics of proposed system, by using special equipment with side window for flow visualization. And the performances applied to a floor heating system have also been evaluated at TUKIGAOKA JUTAKU of Kansai University. From above results, the natural circulation system is powerful enough to circulate hot water through this system, and the temperature and feeling of satisfaction inside bedclothes should be kept a suitable and adjustable region. And also, the design specification of proposed bed board heating system was established to adjust the climate condition comfortable.
