Abstract
Today, we often hear the words, "stop the waste of energy" or "protect the environment". These keywords take all of specialists for changing their stance to study. To choose an easy method, not thinking about the impact on environment, would be an old style. According to this movement, District Cooling (DC) needs to change in the future. In this report, we suggested the transportation system using ice & water with blocked ice. The main character of this system is to maintain ice constantly in the pipeline. The important point is that there are no differences of temperature between upstream to down stream in the piping. We think that the system can compose simple single loop of piping not by double loop of piping as it is used generally in DC. But there are few problems to control the system. Therefore, first of all, we made an experiment about characteristic of pressure loss and measurement method of IPF in the pipeline. [Characteristic of pressure loss] We confirmed that it is possible to put the transportation system using ice & water with blocked ice in practical use. Resulting from this experiment, we are capable of predicting characteristic of pressure loss when changing diameter of pipeline, IPF and flow velocity. [Measurement method of IPF in the pipeline] We suggested to use ultra sonic density meter for measuring IPF in the pipeline, and succeeded the research of effectual real-time measurement of IPF using ultra sonic density meter. There are problems that manufacturing the block ice, method of casting ice into pipeline, and so on. To solve these problems will be the key to succeed in the transportation system using ice & water.
