抄録

As the diet therapy of childhood diabetes White's formula has been generally used in Japan. However, its dietary pattern, particularly too rich amount of fat, does not fit our dietary habit.<br>On the basis of our experiences in summer camps of childhood diabetes from 1969 to 1976 authors propose a tentative plan for the feeding standard of diet.<br>The total energy is equal to the amount for normal children listed in the Recommended Dietary Allowance for Japanese in 1980. The distribution rate of energy of three nutrients, carbohydrate, protein and fat, is 55, 15 and 30 percent respectively. The amount of sugar is 32 Cal. (0.4 units) in all cases. Cereals, potatoes and their processed foods are given between meals. Fresh fruit juices are recommended as favorite beverages. In these conditions the maximum amount of fats and oils for cooking can be limited to 45g.<br>Our dietary program could be easily cooked at home and be fit for the dietary habit in Japan, with good control of childhood diabetes.
