Abstract
Subsequent to the report made by the author on the weight-height standards for adult men and women, this study deals with a method for the logarithmic treatment of the standards and a discal slide rule developed as a result of the study which enables simple calculation of the obesity.
The slide rule is composed of two disks, large and small. On the larger disk are graduated the weight and the obesity. The height is graduated on the smaller disk; at this time the height is replaced by the computed standard weight corresponding to the height. On the smaller disk is further cut a straight line to indicate the obesity. The two disks are movably connected at their center.
When the measured weight on the larger disk coincides with the height or computed standard weight on the smaller disk, the indicator is set to show the obesity as zero. If the measured weight is greater than the standard weight, the obesity is expressed in percent to the corresponding standard weight.
Various many attempts have been made to calculate the obesity simply. Some of them use the graduate calculated with logarithm, and they are characterized in that the scales are cut in easily visible way even though the disks with comparatively smaller diameter are used.
