The present paper describes a finite element approach to the creep buckling analysis of a shallow spherical shell subjected to external pressure. This shell is assumed to be made of visco-elastic material, whose creep characteristics are represented by Voigt's 4-elements model. The incremental method is employed, and the stability of the equilibrium state obtained at individual time intervals is verified. By means of this method, we analyze not only the behavior of the pre-buckling state, but also the process of snap-through and the behavior in post-buckling state. It is also shown that snap-through buckling occurs after the lapse of a finite time, if the external pressure is larger than a certain critical value.
