Description

The copper (I) chloride-tributylamine system was found to be effective at room temperature for the reclamation of the following gum vulcanizates: sulfur vulcanizates of synthetic isoprene rubber (IR), styrenebutadiene rubber (SBR), acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), ethylene-propylene terpolymer (EPDM), and butyl rubber (IIR); SBR vulcanized by tetramethylthiuram disulfide and zinc oxide; chloroprene rubber (CR) vulcanized with 2-mercaptoimidazoline; and organic peroxide vulcanizates of SBR and CR. Reclamation of organic peroxide vulcanizate of EPDM by the catalyst system was rather difficult.
