Abstract

In our previous reports, the K.G.S.C. value, which was introduced for the estimation of the breaking strength of non woven fabrics, depended remarkably upon the strength of base fibers. Consequently, we suggested that the destruction of products was caused by the breaking of fibers themselves against the pull stress.<br>In this paper, therefore, we assumed that binder linked cross points of fibers in web and adjacent points between fibers, and assumed we also that the breaking strength of non woven fabrics increased in proportion to the number of these bonded points.<br>From these assumptions, we authors derived theoretically the next formula as to the strength of products:<br>B=K log(1+d.p.u.)<br>where, B is the breaking strength, d.p.u. is dry pick up represented with binder-web ratio and K is the characteristic constant.<br>Using this formula, we could explain satisfactorily the experimental results. Moreover, we succeeded in formulating the functional relation between K.G.S.C. and d.p.u..
