抄録

Reaction involving TMTD, sulfur, diphenylmethane and zinc butyrate or zinc oxide at 140° gave zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate (I), carbon disulfide and small amount of zinc sulfide. In some experiments thiobenzophenone was found among the products. Zinc butyrate yielded butyric acid after the reaction. The same reaction using I in place of TMTD gave a large amount of unchanged I and small amounts of TMTD, zinc sulfide and carbon disulfide and a trace of tetramethylthiourea. Amounts of carbon disulfide evolved during the reactions involving TMTD or I and the other ingredients were determined at a given time interval and plotted against reaction times. Zinc soap of fatty acid was found to increase the amount of carbon disulfide as compared with zinc oxide.
