The distribution and migration of a tuna has been explained mainly as the adaptation of the fish to the temperature, however, NAKAMURA hypothesized as below from the fact that the fishing grounds of different characters are formed with close relation to the ocean current systems.
1. The current systems or different water systems are the life environments of individualities. Tunas live separately in different current systems' not only according to the species but also to their different ecological stages.
2. The turning season of the ecological stages, though there may be some differences in accordance with species, are thought to be rather short periods around March and September, and they migrate on large scales between the current systems in these seasons, etc..
These suppositions have been examined by the succeeding studies. In the present paper, the relation of the distributions and migrations of the tunas and the ocean structure is illustrated. In addition to it, the possibility is discussed from the data of the commercial fishery, that the distribution of tunas are of use as the indicator of the seasonal and annual variation of the ocean conditions.
