Abstract
The aggregation of pyrazolotriazoloazomethine dyes (PT1-PT7) was studied by using 1H NMR spectra. Chemical shift (σ) of 1H NMR spectra deviates to a high magnetic field due to the change of the proton environment caused by the aggregation of the molecules. Molecular aggregation numbers were determined by means of maximum slope method based on the concentration dependence of the σ. Dyes were classified into three types: multi aggregation, two-molecule aggregation, and no aggregation. Aggregation constant (log K) of PT2 and PT3, which perform two-molecule aggregation, were 2.31 and 1.48 respectively in deuteriochloroform at 293K.
