Heinrich Neu Fahrland Sanatorium in Potsdam, Bad Elster, Bad Branbach, and Bad Liebenstein were visited in June, 1985. Spa treatment in D. D. R. is organized as a part of total health care programm under direct control of the Ministry of Health. Cardio vascular diseases are the top cause of mortality in D. D. R. and therefore spa treatment or rather “cure” therapy is widely used for prevention, therapy and rehubilitation of these direases. 28 health resorts, 31 sanatoria and 4 Kneipp bathresorts were listed in Bäderbuch der D. D. R. edited by Prof. H. Jordan.
