This paper relates to a lady's dress watch (caliber 47) in the analog display type with the quartz oscillator of which movement is the smallest one at present among the same kind of watches and is of nearly the same size as that of the usual 1 lady's mechanical dress watches. The movement has a casing diameter of 15.3 mm, a width of 13.6 mm in 3-9 H direction and a height of 3.8 mm. This paper describes the various techniques and consideration which have been applied to caliber 47 for the purpose of the improvement of the reliability and the minimization of the size, viz., the design of the micro quartz oscillator, the reduction of the power consumption of the oscillator circuit, the resitance for the external magnetic field on the open type stepping motor and the optimum condition for the stepping interval of the motor.
