Abstract

<p>Recently developed three-dimensional (3-D) displays, which give a natural stereoscopic view, are considered as a next-generation imaging technology. Many types of 3-D display techniques have been investigated, and steady progress is being made toward their development. This report is a summary of the recent progress in the field of 3-D display technology. Several selected 3-D display techniques are discussed. In addition, the volumetric display system developed by the author is introduced as one of the techniques for forming realistic 3-D images.</p>
