Description

We conducted an awareness survey on postprandial hyperglycemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. The number of respondents subjected to the data analysis was 877 in total. Most of the respondents (82.4%) wished to know their postprandial blood glucose levels, and 74.8% of the respondents desired to measure fluctuations in blood glucose levels with CGM/FGM. Most respondents also tended to be interested in treatment of postprandial hyperglycemia, as necessary. However, only about half of the respondents (45.6%) had actually known their postprandial blood glucose levels, while 92.4% of 877 respondents had measured their HbA1c values. From these findings, it might be needed for proper individual treatment of diabetes to establish mutual understanding of postprandial hyperglycemia between physicians and patients using CGM/FGM or 1,5-AG depending on the conditions.
