説明

One and two months before the first parturition two nulliparous pregnant Japanese macaques, Macaca fuscata, tried to suckled yearlings but only her 1-year-old sister 44 days before the first parturition held the nipple. The other Japanese macaque yearlings did not hold the nipples of these nulliparous females in their mouths. Responses to the nipples by the non-kin yearlings differed from those by their own children. This behavioral difference may be related to the discrimination of mothers by neonates and infants, and might contribute to mother-infant bonding on the part of the neonates.
