Abstract

We present a case of a 43-year-old male patient with a 11×7cm cauliflower-like tumor mass involving the perianal region. Clinical imaging led to a diagnosis of giant condyloma acuminatum (GCA). The region was treated with a large surgical excision under spinal anesthesia and the wound open. The postoperative course was uneventful and he was released from the hospital 7 days after surgery. After 17 months of follow-up the patient presents no residual lesions or recurrence. The operative wound healed very well, and he has done well without any complaint. GCA has a high rate of local recurrence, so complete surgical excision is the most effective treatment. Many authors recommend reconstruction after surgery. In the present case, the patient was discharged early from hospital because the wound was open. The surgery proceeded without complications and the patient's rapid return to normal life was crucial to the success of the treatment.
