Abstract
<p>In 1992, the satellite altimetry started high-precision sea surface height observations. Within ten years since then, satellite altimeters had become one of the most significant instruments that advanced the physical oceanography in the 20th century. In this paper, the perspective of the satellite altimetry in the early 21st century is discussed with simple review of its history.</p>
