In this research, a questionnaire survey on past bullying experience was conducted on 117 university students (male: 31; female: 86). In Study I, we reviewed past bullying experiences and investigated the relationship between bullying circumstances at that time and request for assistance. Results showed the rate of those who had been bullied to be relatively high at 60% while that of individuals who ha bullied others to also be relatively high at 40%, and it was clear that among those who had been bullied, 20% experienced negative health effects as a result. In addition, of those who had been bullied it was shown that 15% did not request aid. Therefore, in Research II, we examined the influence of past bullying in the long term and examined how the influence of past bullying affected current university student help-seeking behavior. Results suggested that the negative effect of bullying, “emotional maladjustment,” influences the help-seeking avoidance type behavior, while the positive effect, “respect for others,” is a significant positive influence on both help-seeking autonomous type behavior and excessive type behavior.
