Abstract

Rosa rugosa Thunb. is the important garden plant but rather rare in the wild. We investigated the present conditions of a R. rugosa community at Hakuto, Tottori City at the southern wild limit and examined the 28-year change and conservation effects. As a result, community has maintained, but coverage level lowered. Pleioblastus argenteostriatus largely decreased, but newly much inland-related plants colonized, and influence of those were concerned. Supply of dune sand is desirable for maintenance of the community. At Hakuto, habitat was separated from coast by an artifical modification, it seems that supply of sand should carry out by human being.
