Description

The phase behavior in binary mixtures of block copolymers was investigated using synchrotron small angle X-ray scattering. Polystyrene-polyisoprene block copolymers (SI) have equal length of the polyisoprene blocks, whereas the length of minority polystyrene blocks differs. In the blend sample with the weight fraction of long SI of 10 wt%, disordered spheres was formed, whereas closely packed spheres in face-centered cubic lattice was observed for the sample with 30 wt%. It was also found that the blend with 50 wt% showed cylindrical microdomains. Thus, the close-packed lattice was observed as a stable phase in block copolymer/block copolymer blends.
