Abstract

In recent years, BRCA gene mutation has been reported to be associated with parotid tumor. We report a case of BRCA1-positive breast cancer combined with parotid cancer.<BR>A 41-year-old woman with a family history of three breast cancers and two ovarian cancers was admitted to our hospital. In June 2006 when she was 32, left breast partial excision and sentinel lymph node biopsy were performed for left breast cancer. Pathological findings were invasive ductal carcinoma, 10 mm in diameter, histological grade 3 and triple negative. BRCA test after she received genetic counseling in our hospital revealed positive for BRCA1 mutation in 2013. Risk-reducing salpingo-oophorectomy (RRSO) and risk-reducing mastectomy (RRM) were requested by the patient. RRSO was performed, and RRM was planned sequentially. However, a right parotid tumor was pointed out and was diagnosed as parotid cancer. Right parotidectomy was performed in October 2014. Pathological findings were mucoepidermoid carcinoma, 10 mm in diameter, and histological grade ; intermediate grade (AFIP series 4) / high grade (WHO classification 4th edition). Following this operation, RRM was performed and she is currently under observation without recurrence.
