Description
In this study, we investigated flood disaster and evacuation behavior in Asakura city, Fukuoka prefecture due to 2017 northern Kyushu flood. We conducted field surveys for house damage and flood process in Akatani, Kita, Naragaya and Myoken River-basin which huge disaster was found in this flood. We also examined human damage in this site through literature search and interview with residents. The results showed that most of dead stayed in the homes and most of their home were damaged due to this disaster, showing the importance of horizontal evacuation. It is noted that predicted hourly precipitation by weather forecast system of JMA was lower than the measured precipitation in this flood. We also summarized the relation between weather warn-ing and flood conditions in several flood disasters.
