Description

As" Otaku" market has been growing up," Otaku" culture has been drawing more attention even from overseas than ever before. Otaku events attract a great number of young people. Nowadays we can easily find plenty of books and articles regarding the unique culture. This paper aims at defining points to discuss the" Otaku" culture, picking out tasks for its study, and suggesting its research direction. This paper discusses the culture, focusing on such people's distinctive behaviors, (which are) usually featured by sexuality, fan fiction," Moe", and self-reference. What has been lacking in this study is recognition of gender difference. Being aware of the differentia, future" Otaku" research is to consider what kind of process those people have gone through to secure their positions as a genuine" Otaku".
