Abstract
<p>Prior to studies of the long term stability of aluminum alloy A6061 in concrete, an immersion test in mortar extracted solution and a mortar insertion test have been performed in this study. In the mortar extracted solution, the corrosion rate of A6061 was much less than that in a NaOH solution with the same pH. There were some differences between Ca(OH)2 solution and mortar extracted solution in appearances of the specimens, corrosion rate and deposited surface film. However, after the addition of sulfate to the Ca(OH)2 solution, the corrosion rates became almost the same. The corrosion rate of A6061 after 28 days in the mortar was 0.05 mm/y, and it can be expected to decrease to 0.05 mm/y or less in the long term, so A6061 has sufficient corrosion resistance in mortar.</p>
