Description
<p>We have developed Ni supported CaNH catalyst as a precious metal free and highly efficient ammonia decomposition catalyst. The Ni/CaNH catalyst exhibited higher catalytic activity than other Ni-based catalysts. In addition, CaNH support without Ni loading also acts as a catalyst for ammonia decomposition. 15N-labeled ammonia decomposition test revealed that lattice nitrogen of CaNH support contributes to the ammonia decomposition reaction. In was thus demonstrated that ammonia decomposition reaction on the Ni/CaNH catalyst takes place through the lattice nitrogen mediated Mars van Krevelen mechanism.</p>
