Abstract
<p>In this paper, the mechanical properties of patch plate bonded steel plate on one side under axial loading were investigated by the theoretical and numerical analysis. The energy release rate which is one of the criterion of debonding of patch plate. Shear and peel stresses in adhesive were also given by the theoretical and numerical analysis. Furthermore, modified bending moment at the patch ends under the unstable structurel condition was proposed, becasuse the bending moments given by the structural mechanics and FE result do not correspond each other. Finally, by the tensile test of patch plate bonded steel plate on one side, the energy release rate and principal stress calculated from the shear and peel stresses in adhesive proposed in this study were verified using the reference fracture envelope.</p>
