Abstract

The classical music of the Ryukyu dynasty or music for religious service is abundant including a folk song in Okinawa Islands and the Amami Islands. Those music is sung for a living and various events or a contest to be carried out flourishingly. Furthermore, such a music-based modern folk song and pop music are brought about in sequence, too. However, singers disappear, and a small village and a folk song born in an island or the modern folk song made in sequence after the war face danger that it is in discontinuance of making, and a record does it, and to pass away. In addition, the way of the performance changes in the same music by the times and a place and a school. I collect these sound sources and keep it systematically on some kind of platforms and want to keep this music culture well by showing it if possible. I have investigated the present conditions and various trials pushed forward and report it and want to think about possibility of the digital archive of the music of southern island in the future.
