- Effect of Surface Textures on Bond Strength between Mating Parts

<p>Adhesive bonding has a problem that the bond strength fluctuations are large compared with other bonding methods. For improvement of the bond strength, adding high wettability for the adhesive and forming fine asperities on the bonding surface are effective. In this study, submicron-scale periodic groove structures were made on the bonding surface of shaft fitted to sleeve by ultrashort pulse laser, and effect of the periodic structures on bond strength was evaluated. The results showed that the periodic structures oriented to the axial direction have effects on improvement of the bond strength and decrease of the fluctuations.</p>
