Abstract
2D codes have become increasingly popular for the quick verification of items such as airplane boarding passes, train tickets, and coupons. However, no consideration has been given to the illegal duplication or fabrication of 2D codes. This paper proposes a method for generating semi-fragile watermark for two-dimensional (2D) barcodes in order to distinguish invalid copies from original 2D barcodes. The proposed method uses real machines for fitness calculation instead of simulation. In addition, the watermark design problem is formulated as a multiobjective optimization problem involving objective functions every mobile phone, resulting in producing a commonly usable watermark on various mobile phones. The proposed method yields a better semi-fragile watermarking scheme than can be obtained by a single-objective optimization method.
