Description

Generative art is a work of art created by computer’s autonomous calculation. Many works have been created by calculating complex equations for fractals and physical behaviors with a computer. In this study, we attempt to apply a phenomenon called photoelasticity to generative art. Photoelasticity is the phenomenon that the state of birefringence changes when stress is applied, and interference fringes appear when irradiated with polarized light. We propose a new method of generative art to colorize the image automatically by setting the stress virtually from the input image and generating the interference fringe using the two dimensional photoelasticity theory.
