Competitors of world skills Japan operate tasks under the high psychosocial pressure. In this study, we explored the relationship between cognitive load appraisal, use of cognitive strategies, and difference of the training length, to find the factors that restrict competitor’s performance in the competition. Questionnaire survey was conducted to competitors who belonged to informational field, and participated in 54th world skills Japan. Statistical analysis shows that high appraisal of cognitive load promotes use of cognitive strategies.it also reveals that more expertise competitor appraise intrinsic cognitive load as high, and tend to use more meta-cognitive strategies than less expertise one. We suggest the conducting skills training for optimize cognitive load during the task operation.
