Abstract

This paper describes measurement method to obtain channel impulse response (CIR) of radio communication channel using the software defined radio USRP X300. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to establish timing synchronization. The proposed method enables stable measurement of the CIR by using UHD Timed Commands. This paper evaluates the amplitude / phase response of the CIR obtained by a vector network analyzer (VNA) and twenty times USRP measurements under the sampling frequency of Fsb=20MHz and the carrier frequency of Fc=920MHz. It was shown that the amplitude and phase characteristics obtained from the CIR measurement results between the transmitting and receiving antennas installed in a laboratory are similar to those of the VNA. The proposed method cancels the characteristics of the measurement system using an approximate inverse system based on the delayed inverse. This makes it possible to avoid the division operation in the frequency domain. The source code will be released at https://dsp-lab.net/.
