Abstract

There are various methods of education and technology transfer in companies. At work sites, technical manuals, especially manuals and procedure manuals, are effective as a means of supplementing the lack of instructors regardless of Off-JT or OJT. The origin of the manual goes back to the scientific management, and since then, it has been developed in each country and has achieved its own development depending on the field education method of each country. This paper analyzes the maintenance manuals in Japan and the United States, and compares the features of the manuals and the background of their production. By analyzing and comparing the features of the manual, we were able to clarify the elements that express tacit knowledge, which is the key to succession of technology.
