Abstract
Dependence of the crystal structure and scintillation property of Gd2Si2O7:Ce (GPS:Ce) were investigated using polycrystalline samples synthesized using a solid-state reaction method. Crystal structures of three types were observed according to the cerium concentration. The largest light yield for UV light and alpha particle excitations was observed for an orthorhombic structure whose cerium concentration was approximately 2.5 mol%.
