Description

Spiral catheter having small holes on the catheter wall facing the cavity which three or four loops of KIFA grey catheter makes for prevention of hole obstruction due to surrounding omentum or connective tissue was developed for ascites suction. It was inserted into abdominal cavity of six patients including 5 patients with liver cirrhosis and one patient with cancerous peritonitis through their abdominal wall with Seldinger method and spiral portion was indwelled in the small pelvis. Filtrated ascites drained continuously with a roller pump was infused into the same patient via the saphenous vein up to 11 days without cessation due to catheter obstruction. This spiral catheter made of silicone rubber can be introduced into CAPD.
